Construction on the Dubai Metro Blue Line has moved quickly since its groundbreaking in June 2025. According to RTA figures released via Dubai Media Office, the project reached 10% completion within five months of breaking ground, with a target of 30% completion by the end of 2026 and a full opening date set for 9 September 2029.

Scale of the Works

More than 500 engineers and 3,000 workers are currently active across 12 construction sites along the route. To date, contractors have completed over 260 deep foundations and more than 400,000 cubic metres of excavation at station sites including International City 1, 2, and 3, supported by two ready-mix concrete plants and two precast element yards set up specifically for the project.

Safety and Logistics

The project has logged more than 3 million work hours without a fatality, alongside 11 traffic diversions implemented so far to keep construction moving without excessively disrupting surrounding roads, with more diversions planned as work progresses toward busier sections of the route.
